BACKYARD:a look at suburban backyard living

January 4 - January 26

The Midwest Museum of Contemporary Art (MiCo) presents Backyard - a look at suburban backyard living. This show brings together emerging contemporary artists who have each explored the formal and conceptual qualities of the suburban American backyard. Informed by their own experiences and perspectives, these diverse artists have examined how the suburban backyard speaks to the human condition, escapism, leisure, humor, and the American dream.

Backyard presents video work, photography, drawing, sculpture and installations by Meredith Allen, Yoon Cho, Chris Doyle, Rachel Hayes, Matt Lynch, Brian McCutcheon, David A. Parker, Macha Suzuki, Chris Vorhees and Pipo Nguyen-Duy. While each artist's perspective is unique, together their works create a picture of the contemporary suburban landscape, a place where family and friends come together. The work hangs through January 26. Exhibition curated by Scott Grow.
